In a bid to address the gender disparity in technical/engineering courses, the national industrial training board seeks to sponsor 25 qualified and needy females from marginalized areas. The sponsorship will be for engineering courses at craft and diploma levels. The courses will be offered in various public technical training institutes as from 2013.The marginalized areas that are being considered are Mandera, Turkana, Lamu, Wajir, West Pokot, Kwale, Ijara, Moyale, Tana River, Garissa, Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, Marakwet, Suba, Kajiado, Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Kuria and Marigat.The training will be offered in the disciplines of:1. Mechanical engineering2. Agricultural engineering3. Electrical/Electronics engineering4. Automotive engineering5. Surveying6. Building/Civil engineeringFor diploma courses, one should have a minimum C (plain) mean grade, with at least C+ (plus) in maths, C (plain) in physics and English. For craft courses, one needs a minimum of D+ (plus) mean grade, with at least, C- (minus) in maths, D+ (plus) in physics and English. Interested candidates (females from the selected areas only) should apply to the Acting Director General - National Industrial Training Authority, Box 74494 - 00200 Nairobi on or before 26th October 2012, attaching copies of certificates, testimonials, and national identity card. Applicants should justify in not more than 300 words (hand-written) why they deserve the training and the sponsorship.
