Fiber optics communication is a method of transmitting information from one point to another by sending pulses of light through an optical fiber. It has largely replaced copper wire communication in core networks. The process of communicating using fiber optics involves creating the optical signals involving the use of transmitter relaying the signals along the fiber. To ensure that the signal does not become too distorted or weak,the optical signals are converted into electrical signals.

Optical fiber technology has diverse applications which include telecommunication industry in the transmission of telephone signals, internet communication and cable television signals.It is the best in high speed internet connection.

There are numerous advantages that come in with the use of the fiber optics and of which are; Best suited for long distance and high demand applications. They also support high bandwidth which translates to high number of data being transmitted per second. The data sent through fiber optics is also of high quality with the images in cable television being of very high quality. They also allow super fast internet connectivity which is well suited for job and businesses especially the internet jobs. The cables have led to the growth of business especially the small and medium enterprises in the Information Technology sector.

However there are disadvantages that come in with the fiber optics and some of them are; Infrastructure development in cities is relative difficult and therefore putting up of the networks can be difficult and time consuming. The process of installing fiber optics channels is complex and require high levels of expertise.The fiber optics also are well suited for the long distance application for full transmission capacity. We can conclude that it is costly to set up the fiber optics terminals.

All in all the cables also called the submarine cables will bring a new

paradigm shift in the information and communication technology and we should therefore embrace the technology and grow it.
