It’s true that tweets last for a short while. They do have a short life-span, even lasting only seconds. But it’s because when you post a tweet, it always is visible to your followers at that particular moment you post it. Plus, only followers online, by then, could view it. Others, who might not be logged in yet, may not view your posts — unless they went scrolling down your user profile upon logging in. Which, in fact, they might not do; people are busy with their lifestyles these days. Still, there are some tactics you could employ to increase your Twitter readership amongst your followers, and across the entire Twitter network.

Tweet often. Post your tweets, each one of them, three times a day. This means that if you were to tweet, say, 4 posts in a day, you should end up with a total of 12 tweets posted at the end of the day. Of course, you should not do it simultaneously — have a considerable time interval between successive tweets. Your goal, remember, should be to have your tweets viewed, at least, by all of your followers; even if they logged in at different times. Which should be the reason you may want to tweet at different time intervals, through the day. Do not over-do it, either, as you risk losing your followers altogether — they don’t want to view the same thing over and over again, however promotional it may be.

Schedule your tweets. You can have tweets posted for you while you’re asleep. I’ll be writing an article on how to schedule tweets on Twitter; so, stay tuned. Actually, it’s a system that gets your tweets posted while you are not online, or while you may be busy with other activities. In other words, it keeps your

Twitter account busy 24/7 — whether you are online or not. And it offers a terrific opportunity for your tweets to be viewed by a larger audience, considering that you may have followers from all corners of the globe, and you may want to target all of them. Of course, they may not all log in at the same time; while some may be online, others could be having dinner, lunch, breakfast, or even sleeping. Which, in fact, is the reason you should have your tweets scheduled 24/7, to help keep all of your followers busy 24 hours a day.

Use hashtags. While most people may not be aware, hashtags do make it easy for people to find your tweets on Twitter’s #Discover page. People might want to search for specific niche-tweets. That’s why hashtags should help them locate your tweets easily. Take note that when using hashtags, make use of words related to the particular niche you may be tweeting about, always. You don’t want to use hashtags that are out of topic as far as your posts are concerned.

Mention Twitter users. If, say, your tweets should target some niche, do mention accounts related to that particular niche. Most likely, the account owners will read your tweets. After all, they’ll be viewing something’s that’s related to their niche, or that which interests them. Mention about 1 to 2 niche accounts per tweet, and you should see your readership sky-rocket. Retweet niche accounts, as well. The drill is that they should return the favor — retweet your tweets back, thus, exposing your posts to a larger, and newer, audience.

I hope the tips above help grow your Twitter readership. I also hope they help give you increased article views, if you are going to use Twitter to promote your articles.
