If you always feel the successes of your friends and colleagues undermine your own achievements, then you may be suffering from peer fear. This experience is especially among those in their twenties and thirties and is a twist on the basic emotions of jealousy and envy. Since we now have a real power to take control of our destinies, many of us live in fear that we are making bad choices and not doing our opportunities justice, especially in comparison to our peers. Peer fear lowers confidence levels and prevents you from focusing on your own talents and strengths.

To banish peer fear:
DO
- Understand that it is only you competing with yourself.
- Write down everything in your life which someone else may feel envious of.
- Celebrate every single one of your achievements.
DON'\T
- Feel that you are in competition with anyone else.
- Forget the great elements of your life.
- Mistake feelings of admiration for jealousy, and dwell on everyone else's achievement in comparison to your own.
