Kenyan Education system is frustrating

More often, it has been observed that a vast majority of the students enrolled in any educational level, do not all proceed or complete their designated levels in which they are enrolled.

The number of graduates from one educational level to another does not match with the enrollment in their next levels. For instance, the KCPE candidates and the form one places do not match, the KCSE candidates and the chances at the tertiary institutions do not match.

Education ought to provide equal opportunity for all those who transit or complete one level to another. But we will find that, the transiting students are in most cases from the able families who can pay the fees in the next levels while the poor students are left to drain their expectations down on nothing.

Take for example, a student from a rich family scores less than 250 marks and the other, from a poor family scoring 402 mark, you will find out that the student from the rich family goes to a very good school where fees is paid almost thrice what is paid in the primitive or low level school that the student from a poor family will afford to go to.

Education systems need to be planned in a way that equal opportunities are granted both the students and moreover, the poor but bright students should be encouraged to work harder with a promise that their hard work will pay. Planning should be used to make very important decisions so that the transition rates and completion rates are maintained from the lowest levels up to the advanced levels of education.

Learning opportunities should be made accessible by both and all students regardless of their economic, social, historical and political backgrounds.
