Cases of people getting duped online is on the rise. I came across a startling research finding, showing that a total of 556 million people fall victim to cybercrime each year. The report estimates that two-thirds of online adults have fallen victim to cybercrime at some point.Cyber crime can take various forms. But the most common one is where people ask you to send them some money so that they can give you a job, or some other favor.I have had of children who have been kidnapped or bullied in the online environment. These culprits are usually nice to you, with decent website that promise huge amount of returns once you invest. This particular one, homeincomepackage.com, has caught my attention. Every time i search the internet, a banner flashes on the screen portraying a woman carrying a little child, supposedly a real work at home mom. Inside the portrait reads " A work at home mom makes $7,397 a month". As soon as you click on the banner, it takes you to their home page, which is very convincing at first site because for one, they have featured famous media brands such as CNN, skynews, and even our local newspapers -the standard, as endorsement to their genuineness.I discovered that they are fakes because every time i visited the website, they said new members had only 3 days to register after which they are not going to accept new members thereafter. This is a sure red flag, i don't understand how one registers three days prior to deadline, when they visit the site the next couple of days, they find the words still highlighted in yellow, 'Only three days remaining'. When they visit again and again, the same thing.I have once fallen a victim to these sites. I was once conned about Ksh 3100, after being convinced that i was going to earn over Ksh 100,000 in the next two weeks. They even promised me that when i join, and the system didn't work for me, they would refund me immediately. So i joined but things never seemed to work, they have since terminated my account with no refund. I suspect these are some rogue fellows in some dingy corner in river road-downtown Nairobi, trying to dupe Kenyans of their money in the pretext of giving them a legit work at home job.Like me, if you are going to invest in these bogus work at home jobs, think twice. There are however genuine work at home jobs such as academic paper writing. Anything more or less than that, i don't accept. I guess i must have been included in the research findings i told you earlier.
