We as Kenyans, need to borrow a leaf,or is it a tree?,from the Americans.I have keenly followed the American politics of late and I must admit that I have learnt a lot from them.
1. Leaders are elected because of their ideologies and principles.
2. Voters are not interested in the aspiring candidates' race, religion, creed or depth of their pockets. The election process is transparent, free and fair.
3. Unlike in Kenya, where aspiring candidates bribe the voters,in America, the supporters contribute to the election campaign kitty.
4. The voters are proud of their nation and they put the interests of their country before theirs. They actively participate in the election process to ensure that the country is in safe hands.
5. The way the aspiring candidates and their supporters conduct themselves is just amazing. They understand that it is just a competition where the candidate with the best ideologies will emerge victorious.
6. The American population believe in a healthy competition, backed by respect, tolerance and transparency. The Americans also know very well that there can be only one winner. The candidate who loses in the election, concedes defeat and congratulates the winner. In fact, after conceding defeat, the candidate offers his or her support to the winning candidate. There are volunteers who vigorously campaign for the candidates without expecting for a penny from them. The election competition is healthy and and competitors respect others' opinions, views and beliefs. We too, should follow that path.

We need to know that it is our future and our children's future that is at stake. We should also know that Kenyan problems need Kenyan solutions. We must understand, appreciate and respect others' opinions, beliefs, views and stands.Let's be tolerant to each other.

We also need to strengthen our institutions and create awareness among voters. An irresponsible, ignorant and uninformed voter can ruin the future of others. It is time to stand up for our country and be counted.

We must be true patriots and put the best interests

of our country before ours. The next natural question "Is it possible?".Yes,we can turn things around. Actually,we have no option. We must change the way we conduct our politics, lest we perish.

Fellow Kenyans, let's join hands in creating a new Kenya that we will all be proud of. A Kenya in which healthy competition is encouraged. A Kenya in which we all have equal opportunities irrespective of our social, political or economic status.God bless Kenya.
