Branches of Physical Science

There are three major branches of science.
1. Chemistry: The science that deals with the study of the composition, structure, properties, and reactions of matter.
2. Physics: the science that studies nature and property of matter and energy.
3. Biology: the study of life and living organisms. This involves zoology and botany.

The above branches of physical science have further divisions. For example biology has among many other studies, the following branches.
- Anthology: this is the science that deals with the study of flowers.
- Araneology: the branch of science that deals with the study of spiders.
- Anatomy: The science of the shape and structure of organisms and their parts.
- Botany: the science that deals with the study of plants.
- Zoology: The branch of biology that deals with animals and animal life.
- Biochemistry: this deals with the study of chemical reactions in relation to life activities.
- Cardiology: the study of heart.
- Craniology: this deals with the study of the skulls.
- Cytology: the science dealing with the study of cells.
- Dermatology: deals with the study of skin.
- Entomology: deals with the study of insects.
- Etiology: deals with the study of causes of diseases.
- Genetics: deals with the study of heredity and variations.
- Haematology: science involved with the study of blood.
- Hepatology: deals with the study of liver.
- Mycology: the branch of botany that deals with the study of fungi.
- Myology: the science that deals with the study of muscles.
- Nephrology: deals with the study of kidneys.
- Neurology: deals with the study of nervous system.
- Ophthalmology: branch that deals with the study of the eyes.
- Osteology: branch of anatomy that deals with the study of bones.
- Phycology: branch of botany that deals with the study of algae. Also called algology.
- Physiology: science dealing with the study

of functions of various parts of living organisms.
- Pomology: deals with the study of fruits.
- Taxonomy: this deals with the study of classification of organisms.
- Virology: deals with the study of virus.

Other branches of science and their areas of study include;
Aeronautics: this deals with the flight of airplanes.
Astronomy: this is the study of heavenly bodies.
Anthropology: the study of apes and man.
Cryogenics: this is study concerning with the application and uses of very low temperatures.
Ecology: the study of relationships between organisms and environment.
Palaeontology: the branch of science that deals with the study of fossils.
Pedology: deals with the study of the soils.
