Over 30 police offices slaughtered at once! Ridiculous yet sad. I think this is the highest number of police officers to have ever been killed in a single attack since independence. Kenyans were shocked, and they still are, wondering how 30 officers can loose their lives under a hail of bullets sprayed at them by a civilian bandit. I think these guys could be worse than the Alshabaab militants, who in all their sophisticated weapons could not even wipe out 4 KDF officers at once.

This Saturday, November 10 incident drew mixed reactions both from the side of citizens and the government. Some believe that it was a plain outright deceit, because they can't understand how the officers were attacked and there was no record or evidence at all to show retaliation. One is left to wonder why the officers never returned fire, or should we say they didn't have guns.

Is it a case of our officers being ill-trained, ill-equipped, ill-prepared or ill-commanded? These are questions that Kenyans are asking, and are waiting with bated breath to be given answers. They really want to know what conspired.

I hear that Kenyan forces are among the best trained in Africa, including the police. Even the recent KDF operations in Somalia confirmed this. So it can't be a case of being ill-trained.

I however blame our National Security Intelligence. What are they intelligent for if they can't spy or infiltrate into the bandit territory to find out their plans? It looks like someone at the CID headquarters was sleeping at their job. Let us see if the National Police Service is going to unravel the truth or at least try to find some elements of truth.

If the officers were ill equipped, i would have preferred that they, instead, deploy KDF officers who are able to

combat the bandits. They also have better equipment compared to the police. If not, then someone at vigilant house could have taken that initiative of arming these men before sending them into this operation.
