I know that at times we are forced by circumstances to tell lies to other people. It is normally to our advantage but at times when we lie, we end up in big trouble. At the same time it seems wrong to be very honest with people because you can never be too sure if they are just trying to mess you up.When we are lied to, we feel offended and at times we become rude to those who lie to us not knowing that we do lie for most part of our lives.Some call it survival skills but the Bible calls it sin. It would be very unacceptable if we all lie. The world will be an unsafe place because people will be living in constant fear of being joked with by others who are very skilled liars.Some things require honesty but some people don't really know the sanctity of being truthful.Just recently I was in court and I happened to hear a case where a man was accused of disobeying traffic rules. During the hearing, he lied to the court that the other person he was with in the car was his neighbor while in real sense she was his wife. When the other witness testified, she said that they had been married for 10 good years and had 2 children. The lie that the man had told the court affected the credibility of his evidence and the magistrate ended up giving him an even higher fine because of his untrustworthy nature.Lying to others can be taken so lightly but it has the effect of having a permanent mark on us. There are people who are considered to be liars and no one takes their word at all because they lie constantly and they waver so much that you can't really tell their truth from their lie. This is wrong and so annoying because they can't seem to convince people of anything. There are penalties when you lie in some places like the office because most of the times, your employer will realize your character and will place you at the bottom of his workers list because he knows that you are b=never truthful.These are the kind who will take several days from work giving numerous excuses, some of which don;t add up and they'll expect sympathy all the times. This category of people do not get promotions as often because they are not considered serious enough to move the company to greater heights.We should start practicing to be honest and even as much as it is hard, it is worth our time. I believe it would be better if we all learn the value of talking the truth and shunning lies because then everyone will be secure in his dealings and there will not be fear of fraudsters.
