They include:-

1. Import License.
All imports of goods into Kenya must be done after obtaining an import license from Kenya External Trade Authority with conjunction with Central Bank.

2. An Inquiry.
After obtaining an import license the importers sends an inquiry to the exporter for the goods he intends to import. The main purpose of an inquiry is to learn about the availability, prices, terms of payments, etc.

3. Order or Intent.
It contains:-
(a)Instructions concerning goods to be exported.
(b) Number of orders made.
(c) Terms of delivery.
(d) Delivery date and shipping time
(e) Terms of payment
(f) Description of goods and quality, quantities.

4. Shipping Notes.
It is a document addressed to the superintendent of the docks where the carrying ship is to be loaded. When goods are delivered to the docks, a duplicate copy of the shipping note is signed by the receiving clerk at the docks and return to the exporter to acknowledge receipt of good.

5. Insurance Policy.
It’s so that the exporter has to insure the goods against risk in transit.

6. Certificate of Origin.
It is provided by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and shows where the goods are coming from.

7. Bill of Landing.
This is a document which acknowledges the receipt of goods on board the ship.

8. Air Way Bill.
