"May we dwell in unity,peace and liberty".Those words are contained in the Kenyan national anthem.Those were the dreams and aspirations of our founding fathers of our nation.That is not the case in the Kenya of today.Communities are rising against each other.Tribal wars/violence have become the order of the day.This is totally unacceptable.We must act sooner than later.We are treading on a dangerous ground.We must learn to live with each other peacefully.Where there is no peace,violence prevails.As Mahatma Gandhi once said,we must put an end to war or war will end mankind.We have no option.We must live with each other as brothers and sisters or we perish.Violence and tribal wars have caused us more harm than good.Properties of untold value have been destroyed. Business people have incurred huge losses.People have been injured,maimed or killed.This is because we have refused to live in peace and unity.Violence and war don't add value in our lives.In fact,violence and war have caused us untold pain,agony,misery and suffering.Violence/tribal wars have no place in the modern Kenya.It hurts to see people who have lived as neighbors for many years rising against each other.It is even more discouraging to see them hurting each other.Violence/tribal wars should be condemned in the strongest terms possible.We have to bite the bullet.We cannot afford to make our previous mistakes.In order to live peacefully with each other,we should do the following. 1.Respect each other.Respect is a two way traffic.It is all about give and take. 2.Understand each other.No community is perfect.Also,human is to error. 3.Forgive each other.We should forgive and forget.Sometimes we may hurt each other.We should let by-gones be by-gones. 4.Love each other.We should love each other.Hating each other should not be an option. 5.Tolerate each other.We may differ with each other.We may have different views and opinions.That should not make us turn against each other.It is important we tolerate each other. Fellow Kenyans,a time has come when we must put Kenya first before our personal interests or those of our tribes.We must make the right decisions. Fighting each other is not the solution,it is in fact the problem.Peace should start with you and me. We should not ask the government to come in and end the wars/violence.We should avoid fighting in the first place. We should concentrate on building a Kenya in which tribes are a reality but not a liability that retards all positive developments.A Kenya that you and me can be proud of.A Kenya in which our children are safe to live in.Towards this end and considering that many politicians still bank their careers on tribal loyalties,we should be ready to say no to what is wrong and yes to what is right.Let us put Kenya first.God bless Kenya.
