Pets are not only an integral part of their owner’s lives; they are personified, loved, adored and treated as family. Now some pets are more adoptable than others, which makes them the top priority in a potential pet owner’s shopping list, while the less adoptable pets suffer in silence.

A cute pug will obviously be an owner’s best friend, but even a rare-breed or a handicapped dog can bring the same joy to its owner. Actually there can be several advantages of adopting a so called less-adoptable pet. For example an aged dog will be calmer and hence the household would be less susceptible to materialistic damage. Sometimes, a ‘bad-reputation’ dog, say a bulldog, can be the pride of its owner. Weird looking dogs or cats are generally not preferred by pet-owners, but sometimes that can make the pet stand out from the rest and hence give become the talk of the town.

Some pet-lovers actually prefer odd-breeds when it comes to choosing their pets. There are instances of a pet-owner buying a dog with thick and long black fur, so that they can accessorize and stylize their pet. There are other people who genuinely care for the animals and hence adopt pets which are generally less-adoptable and less-considered. They bring home the aged or the orphaned pet from the animal shelter and try to give them a new life. Actually, the very disturbing and pathetic fact is that supposedly less-adoptable pets have to wait for a really long time for them to get adopted from the animal shelter; almost four times more than that required by a more considered and adopted pet.
Some pets are generally less adoptable or they become so at some points in their lives. Age, breed, behavioral issues, aggressiveness, handicap are some of the

features that can make a pet less-adoptable. Some pets become less-adoptable either after spending a very long time in the animal shelter or getting handicapped by sustaining injuries or even because of some behavioral traits that are not so soothing to the owner.

So, it is a fact that cute puppies or kittens will always be adored and loved, but at the same time the unfortunate, so called ‘less-adoptable’ pets will also have to take care of. Let us all hope that people who genuinely care about animals will continue to become the savior angel for these ‘less-adoptable’ pets.
