The effects of bad roads in Kenya

In Kenya, there are so many people who use road transport every day. However, some roads are not that good for use. Some have giant potholes. Bad roads in Kenya are often found in the rural areas where they are not considered to be as important as they are.

There are so many negative effects that are caused by the terrible conditions of these roads. However, let me give you just a taste of what some of these effects are.

1) They cause road accidents.
Most of these roads in bad conditions are very bumpy. When you drive your vehicle on these roads, you feel like you are dancing because you sometimes jump up and down in a rhythmic manner which is not a fun thing if it happens unintentionally.

This bumpiness of these roads will not cause any accidents if those traveling on them maintain a very low speed of less than fifty kilometers per hour. However, for those who are very impatient, they drive at very high speeds on the bumpy roads which causes their vehicles to turn over or lose control and either hit other vehicles or hit anything else that might be beside the road.

The worst part is that some of these bumpy roads are very unpredictable. The could be very smooth for a short distance then all of a sudden, you meet a very rough part of these roads and if you were traveling at a very high speed, then this might cause a very huge road accident.

2) They damage vehicles.
Not all cars were built to travel on very rough bumpy roads. Some vehicles or most vehicles driven in Kenya were made in such a way that they can only remain in perfect condition if they are driven on a very smooth surface.

Such vehicles get

damaged very easily when they are driven on those roads in Kenya which are in bad condition.

3) They make road transport to be slower than it should be.
As I had stated earlier, the roads in bad condition give you only two choices, either you travel on them at a very low speed or you drive very fast on them and cause a road accident.

For this reason, road transport on damaged roads is very slow and this discourages most people carrying perishable goods from using it.

These are some of the few problems that are caused by bad roads in Kenya. They have done so much damage especially to the industries that rely on roads to carry the goods they produce and raw materials which they use to make these goods.
