Keeping safe during floods in Kenya

Floods are a very notorious natural disaster in Kenya and beyond causing huge losses of both property and lives.In order to avoid such losses one has to be aware of how to keep safe.One can keep safe by doing or observing the following;

i).Avoid walking in or near pools of water as they may be electrically charged from underground or by fallen power lines.

ii).Avoid walking through flood waters as it may be toxic through contamination by raw sewerage,oil or by gasoline.

iii).When it rains heavily,it is always advisable to stay indoors say like in the office or at home to avoid encounters with flooded pools of water.

iv).One should keep informed during heavy rains by monitoring local weather patterns through following weather updates through the media and act accordingly.

iv).Also environment authorities during heavy rains in Kenya always advise residents of flood prone and lowland areas to seek shelter at higher grounds to avoid any danger that might ensue.

v).Do not walk through any moving water as in the process you might be carried away.

vi).During a flood situation dash to safety then alert and call for help but avoid panicking.
