Oral narratives is a form (genre) of oral literature. It prefers to a prose account of people, events and places, which maybe factual or fictional. An oral narrative is passed from one generation to another through word of mouth. It is also referred to “tale”, “Folktale” or “story”.
Narratives fall under different specific categories. Each category has features that identify it.
Examples include Myths, Legends, aetiological narratives, Ogre /monster narratives, trickster narratives, Dilemma stories.
