Platonian common good
Common good, that which benefits society as a whole, in contrast to the private good of the individuals and sections. It refers to either what is shared and beneficial for all or most members of a given community or alternatively, what is achieved by citizenship, collective action, and active participation in the realm of politics and public service.
Aristotelian golden mean
The doctrine of the mean is a central concept in Aristotle’s virtue ethics. According to the doctrine of the mean, virtue is mean state between extremes of excess and deficiency. Aristotle describes this mean state as an intermediate relative to us.
