This article encompasses the key areas in climatology as a field of study. The areas include definition of climate change as per different scholars, causes of climate change, evidences of climate change ,effects of climate change and finally the mitigation measures.

Brief Overview:

INTRODUCTION
Climate change was a topic discovered by a Swedish Scientist; Svante Archenius in 1896 due to the combustion of fossil fuels. He studied the effect of Carbon dioxide on climate. The first predicted climate change was in 1976.In 1988,the theory was finally acknowledged when climate became hottest within the century.(Maslin 2008).The Greenhouse gas effect became a concern and and Intergovernmental panel on Climate change(IPCC) was founded. Damages from greenhouse gases could include adverse and severe climate, altered ecosystem extinction of certain species of Flora and Fauna and loss of biodiversity ( Shogren,2004).Global climate change poses a serious challenge for all of humanity.Climate change has been caused by both natural processes such as volcanism, ocean variability among others. However, human activities are the primary causes of severe climate change in the World. Some of these activities include massive deforestation, increased industrialization and combustion of fossil fuels in motor vehicles.Climate change is at times referred to global warming. Climate change is associated with signs which will be addressed later in this article. Finally, this article will systematically and carefully examine the definition of climate change, the causes of climate change, the evidences of climate change and the related impacts of climate change.
