Lesson Summary

Three jua kali artisans Nyundo,Karai and Moto,invested sh1,200,sh1,800 and sh3,000 respectively in their business.They agreed that 34% of the the profits would be divided equally among them and the rest in the ratio of their investments.How much did Nyundo receive at the end of one year when the total profit realized was sh 15,000?

Text Answer

Nyundo = 1,200
Karai =1,800
Moto =3,000
Ratio of investment;
Nyundo:Karai:Moto
1200:1800:3,000
12:18:30 (divide by 6 to simplify the ratio)
2:3:5
Profit =15000
34% of 15000 = 5,100 (To be shared equally)
Therefore each gets =5,100 ÷ 3 = 1,700
The rest = 100% - 34% = 66%
66% of 15000 = 9,900 (To be shared as per the ratio of investments)
Nyundo gets 210x 9900) + 1,700
1980 + 1,700
=sh.3,680
