When at different places, people interact and tell their experiences to each other. Some people amuse their hearers, while others who have had just as exciting, unusual, or amusing experiences bore them! Why this difference? Here are some hints on telling a good story.1. Select a story the group will enjoy.2. Use your imagination. See the people and places and know how the people feel and how you would feel if you were in their places.3. At times quote directly. In this way add life to your story and make it seem real.4. Show by a silence where each sentence ends. Don't tie your sentences with and, but, or so.5. While telling the story, look at your audience's eyes, not at the ceiling, the floor, the window, or the sky.6. Keep the story moving swiftly.7. Stand easily, not stiffly. Don't slouch or wriggle.8. Speak distinctly.9. Use a pleasing voice.10. When it is a story that you are retelling, then read, reread, and study the story until you know it. Practice telling it to something e.g a mirror. Finally, try it out on your family. If you can't interest them, find out why you failed and improve your telling.
