An essay refers to a short piece of writing on one particular subject written by a student. It can be about a variety of issues such as population, Disaster, Ecosystem and many more, where the student is expected to expound thoroughly in order to score remarkable marks.
Some of the common types of essays unclude the following;
i)Opinion essay-This is an essay that tells what someone thinks, feels or believes over something, someone or even somewhere.
ii)Persuasive essay-In such an essay, the writer tries to persuade the audience or the reader to do something.
iii)Compare and contrast essay- This describes how two things are alike and how they are different. When you compare, you describe how the subjects are similar. When you contrast, you describe how the subjects are different.
When writing an essay, you need to put the following facts into consideration;
-Choose an attention - grabbing introduction that state your subject.
-Use one method of organization from the beginning to end.
-Use topic sentense to state your main ideas.
-Write an ending that sums up your main idea.

An essay to compare and contrast a Piano and a Guitar.

What is your favorite instrument? I've always liked the piano best and have played since the my childhood. Recently, my uncle showed me a few guitar chords . While eager to know more about the instrument, i got surprised to discover it has similarity with a piano and differences as well.

If you look at the guitar keenly, you will not a remarkable similarities with a Piano. Like a Piano, the guitar is enclosed in a shiny wooden box. For you to play a guitar, you need to use two hands similar to when playing a piano. Both the piano and guitar have

similarity in their sound production in that they have strings that vibrate to make beautiful sharp and flat notes. When played by a conversant player, both the guitar and the piano notes can be put together to produce melodies. Both instruments can be played for fun or as a profession.

The differences between the two instruments are easier to spot, especially in appearance.While the piano is a large percussion instrument, the guitar is small flat-bodied stringed instrument. The piano has a long keyboard, but the guitar has a long fretted neck. The guitar usually hangs from a strap that must be held, unlike the piano which stands on its own base. To play the piano comfortably, the player must sit upright to reach the the keys and pedals. To play a guitar the player can stand, sit or even hover around while playing. While a piano makes sounds by the player pushing the keys, which causes small hammers to hit the string, a guitar player uses hands to pluck or strum the strings. A piano player goes around eighty-eight keys while a guitar player has less than ten strings to consider while playing.

When my uncle made me pick a guitar for the first time, i thought i would be stuck. I later learnt that it required me to transfer a lot of what i knew about playing the piano to learning to play the guitar. Never be afraid to try something that seems new to you.You might be amazed to notice you know more than what you think you can do.
