A biography refers to writing someone else's living story. It involves recording facts of the subject's life, digging deep around stories of his/her close characters, interviewing the subject, his friends, colleagues, workmates, and family members in order to get the correct perspective of his or her life. If the subject of the biography is alive, it is important to be familiar with him or her to get details in more than one dimension. When interviewing, you need to be friendly, create a good time to engage the subject and remember to be little formal and little informal for a good engage. It is also important to make a list of the things you need to know systematically and remain tactful when asking questions that you feel may appear difficult to the subject. Give the subject much of your ears. Do not talk too much, allow the subject give you the information. This is the main purpose of an interview. Do not fear asking dump questions, ask about other people that may at one time had been close to the subject. Take notes of the facts and answers given either audio or visual form. It is not advisable to take note by writing since you may make the interview too formal. After you get the information you required, remember to say 'thank you' to the subject.Example of a short biography. Kibau a retired teacher knows his affection transcends the lines of his homestead. He walks quietly to his chair, pulls it carefully to the acacia shade and slowly settles his heavy-set body on it. As his deep-set eyes focus into the horizon, it is obvious his minds is engrossed in profound and subtle issues that now threaten the very essence of his present kingship, that is his family. Kibau's retirement has triggered off a varied reactions more so from those close to him. Incidentally, that is not what is bothering him. It the fact that the enormous knowledge he wielded in his former school is now not evident in his home. Kimeu, his supposed heir to the family throne, has flouted his authority with impunity. His son won't listen to reason. It is sheer waste of breath and time bandying words with illiterate people within his society. With his college education, Kimeu is surprisingly oblivious of this fact. Thus, without his father's consent, he has demarcated the land, catering only for his selfish interests, thereby disinheriting his two sisters. This will not happen; not when Kibau is still breathing strong. He takes a deep sigh, as if to punctuate his resolve. He will have to stamp his authority on his eldest son or his family will collapse to nothing.
