Kenyatta university is ISO certified. My short understanding is that it is a place for quality educational services.I am living proof that it surely is.Maintaining such standards is no cheap feat especially when governing tens of thousands of students from very diverse backgrounds.Continuous assessment tests are taken very seriously,at the same level as exams. They have to be of a certain measure and all students do the same question.Seventy percent attendance at a minimum is compulsory for each student. What is guarded most however is cheating during tests.Kenyatta university does not take cheating lightly. It is one of the quickest ways to earn an exit from the school.Lecturers deployed as invigilators are under strict instructions to forward any suspects alongside the evidence recovered. A suspect then faces the university committee for trial in which many fail and are expelled from college. It is usually a tearful trial where emotions run high at the face of a bleak future.Such is the fate of anyone caught cheating. It is with full knowledge of such consequences that a student in their right mind still goes ahead to cheat in exams. They try to be clever enough to beat the system. And sadly at the end of the day they lose. The excuse most students give is that they have not read and thus are not ready for exams.First, the duty of a student in school is to read their books and attend classes so you have no justification for not being ready for exams. And if at all for one reason or the other you have not read, why not go in,write your name and wait for a retake of the paper in the next semester?Which risk would you rather take:repeating a unit or facing expulsion?Young people in college, let us make decisions with a clear mind.We should consider the people we affect through our actions, more especially our parents who lay down their lives for us.Think twice before you decide to cheat in exams.
