1. Have a positive attitude towards your school:
Loving your school will motivate you to do something that will upgrade it by performing well in exams. There will just be this motivation to work hard and upgrade the name of your school.

2. Have a positive attitude towards your teachers:
Likewise, not considering your teachers as bad people will make you do what they want; and we all know that they want us to work hard. You'll consequently work hard and ultimately pass your exams.

3. Have a personal study timetable:
A personal study timetable will make you balance your reading in all areas of your study. This is especially so if you are willing to follow it strictly. Remember to spare some leisure time on your timetable as well.

4. Have a goal. Do you want to get an A, B, B+, C+ or other grades?
Having a goal on what you want to achieve academically will motivate you to work hard, thereby achieving highly academically.

5. Try and read ahead of your teachers:
This makes you familiarize yourself with a topic ahead, before it's taught in class. It will make you understand more when the topic is finally introduced in class.

6. Never miss classes:
Missing classes will make you lag behind. Nevertheless catching up with the rest of the students could be a little bit harder.

7. Ensure you complete all the assignments in good time:
This will make you avoid punishments. For instance, being thrown away from class to complete the assignments elsewhere when others are in class learning.

8. Make it a habit to consult your teachers in areas where you find difficulty:
You can do this through consultation. Consultation with teachers in areas of weaknesses will boost a student a notch higher and it will make them stand out in their level of understanding.

9. Always pay attention in class

and participate actively by asking questions:
This will make you understand more, therefore, increasing your chances of performing better in class.

10. Form discussion groups:
You will come to realize that anything you contribute in a discussion group will forever stick on your mind. You will never forget it. Besides, you will be able to understand whatever you didn't understand in class, possibly through contribution from another student.

11. Work extra hard in the areas that you are weak at:
Put more effort in those subjects that you are weak at so as to balance your general performance levels.

12. Participate in games and physical exercise lessons:
This enables you to exercise, hence making your mind active when you get back to books.
