Many people listen or participate in music for entertainment, others to communicate and other listen to music to purge feelings( what Aristotle referred to as catharsis: Aristotle catharsis). Not only can music be used for the above reasons but it can also be a good influence to learning.

Research on the developmental effects of music on the brain function has been an interesting facts on parents and educators. The findings indicates that, music enhances children possibility to learn. The music varies from soft music for young learners to musical toys and dances, and also use of mnemonics to encourage fun involvement of music. This strengthens learner's educational, physical and psychological development.

Mozart effect theory claims that listening to Mozart's music can make you smarter. A research on the musical technique proved to be helpful for students recalling ability because, the songs, helped with mnemonics, setting tunes, and linking connection to cultural themes. The same research also revealed that pre-school children taught with an early exposure to music through games and songs showed an IQ advantage of 10 to 20 points over those children taught without exposure to the songs. The reason for this is that exposure to music alters and increase brain function to make the necessary connections for higher order of thinking.

Einstein, the great scientist, said that the reason why he was so smart is because he played violin. Music enhances listening skills. Top schools in America place a great emphasis on the music. Hungry, Japan, and Netherland, the top three academic countries in the world emphasis on music lessons. Kenya should borrow a lead from

there academic giants.
