There was once a son who asked his father for his inheritance, the father granted him his wish and with cows, goats and all that was attached to him. He went to a far away country. On arrival, he started squandering the riches with prostitutes. He enjoyed life everyday. He answered the prayers and wishes of everyone who came to him. Having no way to sustain the riches, the money gradually got exhausted. After several years of happy living the riches vanished. Unlucky for him, a very sever drought hit the country. Those who came to him started seeing him as a disgrace. They ran away from him. Hunger become a part of his jobless life. He searched for a job to no avail. One day he went to a rich guy who told him all he can offer was a job to take care of his pigs. He had no choice. Several working months for meager pay, came to pass. He ate with the pigs and slept among them. One day he thought about the life he used to live back home. The servants ate well and slept on beds. They were clean and well dressed. He thought of going back home and tell his father to forgive him and take him not as a son but as one of his maid servants. He never dropped the courage so he set on and walked home. On reaching near the place he once called home, his father saw him and sent out his servants for the best clothes. He ordered for a banquet to celebrate the birth of his own son. They slaughtered the fattest bull and singing and dancing tunes filled the air. When the eldest son came home, he called one of the servant and asked him what

the celebration was all about, he told him the younger son had returned and they slaughtered a cow to celebrate his return. He furiously went blazing angry to his father and asked him why he accepted that thing back and he has squandered half of the riches. What hurt him most was that he never slaughtered for him even a goat to celebrate with his friends. The father told him not to worry because all the riches in that house belongs to him.

The above parable portrays the most number of themes amongst them all.
Themes include:
-greed. The son greedily thought the inheritance he got in his father''s place was being shared.
-prostitution.
-acceptance. The father accepted him back.
-forgiveness.
-hatred
-love
-suffering
-hope
-regret
-courage

I hope we all learn something from this parable.
