As I was traveling home the other day, I could not help but notice the camps by the roadside. I was surprised because it has been 5 years since these people were rendered homeless. In as much as it is hard for me to believe, it is a fact that the IDPs are still in camps. What they receive are empty promises that they will be resettled. These people were just exercising their rights to vote but they did not know that it will lead to them spending 5 good years in the camps. Our government has put in minimal effort in order to ensure that these people get a place they can call home. There is nothing as sad as knowing that you had a home but now you live in the cold because of exercising your right. This may make many IDPs to be reluctant when it comes to voting. Now that the general elections are around the corner, our MPs will go to the camps and give these people empty promises again.I really feel for these people but there is nothing I can do to help them. In as much as I am wiling to help, all I can have is just pity and the hope that the next general elections will not find them in the camps. Do you think it is fair that the IDPs are still in the camps till now?
