Getting employed nowadays has become practically impossible because people have been educated and the country is filled with highly educated and self motivated young men and women. If a vacancy has been posted, the applications sent are so overwhelming and the employers rarely go through each an every letter posted to them. Some letters are never even opened while the senders wait in vain for a response. This is so sad especially for those who are considered unlucky, i have a friend who say they were born on a Friday but anyway that's besides the point. Well, considering the numerous applicants and the scarce positions, the employers have decided to employ some tactics which are aimed at discouraging some people from applying for job positions in their institutions.

One of these techniques is looking for people with experience. You find a job advert which wants applicants to have at least five years working experience...This sis really funny because why would someone who has been employed elsewhere, leave his or her job to come and work in your organization? Why don't you want to give the jobless a chance to get employed too. Give them the priority say for example state that you want fresh graduates to apply. This clause which stipulates that applicants must have experience is very unfair and should be made illegal because it lock potential employees from getting jobs.

The other way in which young people are locked out of jobs is when and organization specifies that it need people with masters degrees in the field. Does a masters degree really make a difference? People must start from somewhere and employers need to understand this. Not all masters graduates are as sharp and as effective as diploma holders and degree holders. They need to be given a chance to give their

best and to earn a living.
Some employers also require applicants to be 35 and above. This is absurd because age is just but a number. There are some people in their twenties who can prove to be more mature and responsible than those in their late thirties. It is wrong to try and rate efficiency in terms of age because some people take longer to mature than others and that is what matters.

What am trying to say is that we all desire to have good jobs and be able to support our families but we need the chance to do it. We should be given the opportunity to do it. We need not be discriminated because of our ages and lack of experience, some of us are fast learners.
