In this era of non-communicable diseases, it is important to identify foods that boost the body's immunity. A weak body system makes one prone to diseases that would not be any effect if the antibodies are healthy; strong. Eating tamarillo, also known as tree tomato, helps fight radicals that cause aging quickly.

Tamarillo have high levels of Vitamin A, C, magnesium, calcium, iron, fibre, proteins. They are 80 per cent water; are low in fats. It is an excellent antioxidant that consists of flavonoids known as anthocyanins, carotenoids, lycopene, beta-carotene, which are the compounds that reduce oxidative cell damage caused by free radicals in the body.

Free radical damage has been linked to ageing, heart diseases, different type of cancers. The radicals build up in the body owing to exposure to pollutants. These radicals then collect in the body; begin to quickly destroy the cell walls; the genetic structure of the cell. The antioxidants prolonging or anti-ageing benefits are derived from their ability to heal the cell and prevent free radicals from reproducing.

Once the free radicals of the body are left with no place to grow, the cell can regain its health, thus the body begins the rebuilding process. Since one cannot completely evade pollutants that cause free radical invasion, a constant level of antioxidants with anyone anti-ageing benefits need to be consumed on, a regular basis. Apart from tamarillo, other brightly coloured foods like carrots, tomatoes, citrus, grapes, cranberries, blueberries, strawberries are excellent antioxidants.
