The importance of the school uniform

Most of the schools in Kenya have school uniforms. These are the clothes which the students are supposed to be wearing when they are at school during normal learning hours. However, some people think that the uniforms should be abolished. This is not at all the right thing to think because the school uniforms have a lot of importance to the school and the students. The following is the importance of the school uniform.

1) It makes all students to feel equal.
When it comes to the kinds of clothes that we wear at home, some are good, others might seem a bit outdated while others might just be the worst kind of clothes according to some of the students at school. Thus, if the students were to be allowed to wear home clothes, they might be judged by the other students as a result of the kind of clothes that they wear. However, when all the students wear the school uniform, then all of them look equal despite the financial status of their parents or their own financial status. This is because all the uniforms for a particular school look the same and are usually of the same price thus no one can judge any students because of what they wear.

2) They allow the students to focus on school work.
When a student is wearing the clothes that he or she wears at home, then the might of such a student might easily start thinking about home and what they do at home. However, when a student wears a school uniform, then he or she will not be influenced by his or her clothes to think about home. This makes the students who wear the school uniform to have a higher chance of concentrating on their school work than

those without school uniforms.


3) They allow students to be identified even when they are outside the school compound.
There are some students who get involved in some bad activities on their way home. Such students are easily identified and reported by the witnesses to their schools all thanks to their school uniforms. The school uniforms for different schools do not look alike and they all have the names of their schools allowing anyone who looks at the student wearing a school uniform to identify the school which the student goes to very easily.

4) They allow the people who belong to a particular school to identify an outsider more easily.
During school functions and other occasions where the students of other schools go to a particular school, the students who are not from the host school might get left behind after the occasion or even try using some of the things which are only meant for the students of the host school if none of the students have school uniforms. However, the school uniforms make sure that no one can confuse the students of various schools with one another even if all these students are in the same school.

5) They remind the students their school motto.
Most of the uniforms for different schools in Kenya have the school motto written on them. This reminds the students of what they are expected to do and also inspires the students to work harder every time they are wearing their school uniforms or even every time they see their school uniforms.

We must all know that the school uniform is not just a decoration like the ones on the Christmas tree. The school uniform is also important in so many other ways.
