They say all work but no play makes Jack a dull boy. True to that. But what about all play? Okay, so we stitch this saying into campus student lives. Some, most, but definitely not all, like entertainment more than they like studying. Its like studying has become a co-curricular activity and the likes of partying become the main purpose for them getting into these institutions of higher learning. The image campus life has got is that there is all sorts of entertainment that go around there. Look at this: when 'freshas' get into the university, most of them have the idea of at least getting a partner. They even organize for them the so termed 'freshas bash' for the job to be made much easier. They are simply welcomed to campus with a party. Try to think about it. People will be annoyed if the entertainment director fails to organize for them an event involving dancing, drinking and making new 'girlfriends' or 'boyfriends'. On the other hand, if events such as symposiums are organized, those dwelling much on education, then not that many students would be interested. In high school, the cleverest of the students would be the one getting the most attention as well as most friends. When its in campus, this completely shifts gear and the student with the most partying potential gets the most followers. What these kind of people don't know is the fact that the partying only lasts for a short period of time, and one may end up miserable for the rest of their lives. Partying and its constituent activities has an inverse relation to the learning process. The more you party, the less you will feel like learning. Lets look at these negative impacts of partying to the learning process.

First, partying may involve in the indulgence in drugs and mostly alcohol. Did you know that alcohol causes memory loss? Now you know. Though one may have done their best in studying hard, when they indulge in drugs, then they will forget some of the things they had studied. The end result? Not that much of success in their studies. Time factor is another thing that we should look into. You see, time that could have been used to study mat be diverted to partying and in the end one may have deficiency of time in their learning process. Last minute preparations will be the only option remaining: in doing assignments, projects and studying. The third thing is the occupation of the mind with thoughts that do not necessarily add any positive impacts on one's life. You see, the 'partyaholics', when the weekend is nearing, occupy their minds with thoughts of how they will go to enjoy themselves once the weekend reaches. Concentration would be reduced and thus grasping of content not to the level its supposed to be. Again, this will imply that the student uses additional time in order to grasp what he didn't. We see a lot of people, after partying, having hangovers. They spend most of the next day's time to fully recover so that they can continue with their, normal activities. Also, the health of some deteriorates and they can't do meaningful work for some period of time. All this results to time wastage. And again, last minute preparation would be their option, which is not that effective. People know that partying doesn't add any value to their education but they still indulge in the practice. Its not that partying is bad, but the excessive and extreme of it is. Those that engage in drugs during such events to a level where they cannot recognize themselves. Those that are out there to trick other people, especially unsuspecting girls in order to sleep with them. Those that do not regulate their partying times. All these should change and start viewing education as more important. Party, but at manageable, controlled, planned and regulated levels. The main purpose you came to campus is to learn, quality learning.
