There are important things to remember when it comes to tackling the examination situation. Passing exams is not just a matter of luck; anyone who wishes to pass must apply the proven means of attaining success.

Some of the important tips to note include

:

1. Answer all the easier questions first. Don’t lose valuable time stalling over hard questions as you may end up running out of time and not even getting a chance to answer any of the questions. This strategy will not only help you manage your time but will also give you confidence in tackling the other questions.

2. Answer all the questions unless it has been stated that marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. Even if your answers for some questions may be wrong, by so doing you stand to gain some extra points.

3. Put yourself in the examiner’s shoes when you are trying to figure out the meaning of a confusing item. Ask yourself what the examiner had in mind when setting the particular question or when including a certain phrase.

4. Circle or underline the key words in difficult questions. By so doing, you can be able to untangle complicated questions and focus on the central point in an item.

5. Express the difficult questions in your own words. Rephrasing a question in simpler terms and writing it down or saying it to yourself can go a long way in helping you understand the question better. Take note however not to change the original meaning of the question.

6. Take advantage of the full time allocated and go through the examination one more time once you are done to check for possible mistakes.

7. Do not attempt to cheat in examinations. This will get you disqualified and may result to disciplinary action by the institution. The
cheating notion in your mind will also lower your brain's performance.

8. Do not be distracted by external factors e.g. Noise in the surrounding areas. Although conducive environment is usually created around exam venues, unavoidable distractions can occasionally occur. Ensure that such distractions do not affect your concentration.

9. Avoid tension. Although it is natural to be tense during the exam duration especially when you feel like you have not adequately prepared, try to avoid this as it may negatively impact on your performance.

10. Do not converse with other students during exam time. This may make think that you are cheating and as a result disqualify you.
