Plums:
This soft, round, smooth skinned sweet fruit with sweet flesh, flat pointed seed is excellent for one's health. Plums contain antioxidants called phenols which are effective in helping prevent oxygen based damage to important fats like those in our brain cells, the cholesterol circulating in our bloodstream or the fats that make up our cell membranes.They are also a good source of Vitamin C, enhance absorption of iron into the body.

Vitamin C helps protect cholesterol from becoming oxidized by free radicals. Since oxidized cholesterol is the kind that builds up in the arteries and causes damage to blood vessels, some extra Vitamin C can be helpful for people who suffer from diabetic heart disease. Plums are also rich in Vitamin A, B2, dietary fibre and potassium. They stimulate bowel movement due to a substance in their skin. They can be used to make juice, can be mixed with other fruits like berries, pineapples, pears, paw-paw, apples for a yummy fruit salad, or use it to make jam or a thick syrup to use as bread spread.

Nutritious watermelon seeds:
A handful of dried watermelon seed kernels contain about three grammes of zinc (or 25 percent of the recommended dietary allowance for a woman under 50 years) and two grammes of iron. Zinc supports a healthy immune system and normal growth. Unless you chew them, however, the seeds are quite likely to pass right through your digestive system rather than being broken down and absorbed so the nutritional loss or gain becomes awash.

Water melon seeds are eaten in many parts of the world like in Nigeria, the seeds of certain types of watermelon are made into soup. They are eaten in China as well, although rubbing or scorching the seed removes the outer skin. Next time you are eating watermelons, chew on the

seed, or remove, dry and eat them with your cereal.
